Activist Cindy Sheehan Arrested at Capitol

It's like one of Bush's "Town Hall Meetings", if you disagree, you're not welcome. President Bush talks about spending the political capital he received (and lost) in the election. Doesn't Cindy Sheehan, whose son was killed in a regime change that had nothing to do with 911, quailify for any political capital to speak her mind? Instead she's called names by the right wing nuts and accused of being a traitor just because she doesn't support this administration's policies. She's villifed for not "supporting" the troops, but she's giving them the ultimate support by holding politicians accountable for their actions in sending our troops into harm's way.

WASHINGTON - Cindy Sheehan, the mother of a fallen soldier in who reinvigorated the anti-war movement, was arrested and removed from the House gallery Tuesday night just before State of the Union address, a police spokeswoman said.

Sheehan, who was invited to attend the speech by Rep. Lynn Woolsey (news, bio, voting record), D-Calif., was charged with demonstrating in the Capitol building, said Capitol Police Sgt. Kimberly Schneider. The charge was later changed to unlawful conduct, Schneider said. Both charges are misdemeanors.

Sheehan was taken in handcuffs from the Capitol to police headquarters a few blocks away. Her case was processed as Bush spoke.

Schneider said Sheehan had worn a T-shirt with an anti-war slogan to the speech and covered it up until she took her seat. Police warned her that such displays were not allowed, but she did not respond, the spokeswoman said.
