It's good for the country that George is finally back in Texas, but there's going to be a big comedy void with him gone. Barack Obama's statesmanship aside, even diehard Republicans must have looked at Bush and wondered how this schlamazel got elected in the first place.

Cheney: History will say Bush made America ’safer’ and ‘more hopeful’

cheney.jpgAs crazy as this statement seems, it is possible. After all, this is the group who was able to turn John Kerry, a Vietnam veteran, into a war criminal, and Max Cleland, who lost his limbs in Vietnam, into somebody who supports Osama Bin Laden. In this twisted parallel universe, with good propaganda, anything is possible.

Speaking in front of more than 400 people Friday night during a sold-out reception at a hotel in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dick Cheney said that history will be very favorable to the Bush presidency:

“When the history is written, it will be said this is a safer country and more hopeful world because George Bush was president,” Cheney said

Goodbye Netscape

AOL has decided to finally put an end to Netscape, the web browser that essentially made the World Wide Web accessible to everybody with a dialup connection. In 1994, when Netscape came on the scene, Microsoft thought that the internet was just a gimmick. When they realized that was a miscalculation, they set out to develop a browswer that would be bundled with Windows. They also discouraged computer makers from offering Netscape on their computer desktops. This decision led to the Microsoft monopoly suit that called for the breakup of the company. This decision wasn't pursued by the Bush Justice Department, which dropped the lawsuit after Microsoft said they'd play nice.
